"In 2022, WFP findings indicated 75% of the 314 schools in Karamoja lacked proper food storage facilities. Classrooms and teacher offices were used to store commodities including rice, beans, maize, and cooking oil. Up to 30% of food was lost due to lack of proper storage...With USAID support, the silos have provided adequate storage; reduced food losses from insects, rodents, and spillage; and have improved delivery."
